The US President Barack Obama offered assistance, in a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, in putting out wildfires in Russia, and expressed condolences over the loss of human life.

Obama called Medvedev on Thursday.

Many countries have long since been aiding Russia in extinguishing the fires.

The situation remains grave in Mordovia, as well as in the Moscow, Nizhni Novgorod and Ryazan Regions.
